Houston shoe designer's fancy footwear rocks the red carpet at CFDA Fashion Awards
Houston-based shoe designer Joyce Echolswas beyond thrilled Monday night to see her "Midnight Ranger" evening shoe on the red carpet at the CFDA Fashion Awards — worn by E! News correspondent Alicia Quarles.
The entertainment reporter's image is all over the web, pictured along with the dozens of other celebs strutting what The Huffington Post calls the red carpet "as good as it gets."
The awards are the fashion world's equivalent of the Oscars. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, designers of The Row, were named Womenswear Designer of the Year while Tom Ford took home the Menswear Designer of the Year award. Tabitha Simmons was crowned Accessories Designer of the Year and Rosie Assoulin received the Swarovski Award for Womenswear, annually given to the top emerging designer. CultureMap editor-in-chief Clifford Pugh is among the fashion critics who pick the winners each year.
Echols reports that Quarles' stylists, PJ Pascual and Raia Gomez, reached out to her requesting samples for the news star. They selected the sexy pump laced with bullet casings to go with an unusual dress designed by Kim Mesches.
The "Midnight Ranger" and other styles from the elegant yet hip collection will be available in the fall via joyceechols.com.
