Lauren Bush touts new Judith Leiber Feed 1000 clutch, but is mum on weddingplans
Lauren Bush welcomed shoppers and friends to Bergdorf Goodman in New York Friday to launch the new Judith Leiber FEED 1000 clutch. Bush collaborated with Leiber officials to design the minaudière of shimmery metallic linen in gold or silver and stenciled with the words FEED 1000 on the back and an intricate beaded panel on the front.
The clutch retails for $495, with $250 of each sale going to Bush's FEED Project to provide food to hungry children around the world. Proceeds from each clutch provide 1,000 school meals in Third World countries, or as Bush pointed out, will feed 5 children in school for one full year.
Bush was all business, brushing off questions about her wedding to David Lauren, the son of designer Ralph Lauren and top executive at his father's company. "We haven't set a date . . . I haven't even thought about my dress," she told a New York Post reporter.
Also on hand were Bush's mother, Sharon, and New York society denizens Denise Rich, Bettina Zilkha, Alexandra Lebenthal and Yaz Hernandez.
Bush, who is known for carrying her FEED burlap tote to society events, joked that she was relieved to have the elegant clutch for "red carpet" functions. She carried the bag to the fashionable Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Ball earlier in the week.
