Mohawk, mo' problems: Why Jim Carrey & his haircut scare Hollywood
Rebel without a contract Jim Carrey is making headlines for his new mohawk. As he approaches his fifth decade, the iconic extrovert may be facing a mid-life crisis, or is perhaps revealing the 'do from a current gig.
Although the star of such compelling dramas as I Love You Phillip Morris, The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Carrey has proven himself an avid stunt man with regrettable comedy roles in Bruce Almighty, Dumb & Dumber and two installments of Ace Ventura.
Throughout his career, Carrey has experimented with long locks with an indie beard and a cropped buzz cut. People.com chronicles other mohawk-sporting celebs such as Mark Salling of Glee, Brody Jenner in 2010, Kevin Federline in 2008 for One Tree Hill, Kingston Rossdale and Maddox Jolie-Pitt.
The reasoning behind the mohawk remains to be seen, as the photo of it posted on Carrey's active Twitter account is simply accompanied by the text "I am a paintbrush." Criticize the aesthetic decision, but let's not forget Carrey's finer points, such as public awareness campaigns about depression and political oppression in Burma.
