Houston sorority puts on the ultimate SALE: Try 50 to 75 percent off as 40 top stores pull out all the stops
The Tri Delta’s Houston Alumnae Chapter have always been passionate about philanthropy, but when it came time to plan their large scale fundraiser for 2015, they realized it was time for a change.
Forty boutiques are pulling out all the stops, selling their merchandise for between 50 to 75 percent off.
Motivated by their cadre of young alumni, local Tri Delta leaders decided to break away from their traditional annual luncheon benefiting the Museum of Fine Arts, and launch something fresh, different and appealing to a swath of women wanting to raise funds for an important cause.
That idea is the SALE, a two-day shopping event Saturday and Sunday at the Bayou City Event Center. Forty Houston boutiques including Tootsies, Elaine Turner, a bientot, Cheeky Vintage, Cotton Club and Cakewalk Style Shop are pulling out all the stops, selling their end-of-season merchandise for between 50 to 75 percent off. Proceeds from the shopping event benefit The University of Texas MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital.
To make the list of invited retailers, the sales and items had to be compelling, and by the sneak peeks, it seems stores were happy to comply. An Erin Fetherston dress at SAM and lilli was $225, but marked to $90 for the event, and an Elaine Turner clutch retailing for $248 is $88 at the SALE.
“Everybody is so excited about our new event and who can turn down the cause?” the SALE chair Connie Wright says. “It’s going to be fun and still be an intimate shopping experience.
Adding to that cozy nature is just one dressing room, so Wright suggests shoppers wear leggings and tanks to easily try on clothing. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. The SALE is open from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
