Five ways to get ready for an "invincible summer"
"In the depths of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer." Albert Camus' exquisite quote reminds us to revitalize and cultivate the "invincible summer" within our souls.
During these wintery gray days, keep the faith, and utilize these five revitalizing factors to kickstart your "invincible summer" for 2011.
1) Drink More Water
Yes, that means finally ditch that nasty diet drink or sugary soda habit; you'll feel and look ah-MAH-zing!
Need taste? Try Glaceau's Vitamin Water Zero flavors in eight yummy flavors, with no calories or artificial sweeteners!
Need fizz? Sip La Croix naturally flavored sparkling waters or augment your daily calcium intake with a refreshing glass of San Pellegrino mineral water. Add a wedge of your favorite citrus fruit for extra pizzazz and virtually transport yourself to the sunny Italian Riviera.
2) Move It!
Commit to exercising once a day and watch it become an integral part of your life. Do something you love and that you'll look forward to daily.
Baby steps? Take a short walk or a bike ride after dinner, or sign up for yoga or Zumba latin dance class.
More advanced? Check out the latest Crossfit craze for a body blast like no other.
Consider utilizing your fitness goals to contribute towards a greater cause. Check out the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society'sTeam in Trainingto prepare and fundraise your way to completing a marathon. Or go for a half-marathon, century bike ride, triathlon or hike adventure. Carpe diem!
3) Stay Healthy
Schedule those necessary yearly physical and dental checkups — now. Just do it!
4) Purge
Edit your closet, jewelry box, and even your make-up drawer. Pay it forward: keep in mind a teriffic philanthropic cause while purging your hidden treasures. Check out The Fairy Godmother Project, which provides disadvantaged Houston area students with special occasion clothing for proms and graduations, or Dress for Success, promoting economic independence for disadvantaged women.
5) Visualize
Create a vision board!
Why? The process allows you to zoom in on your dreams and goals to attract and create your ideal life.
How? By utilizing the Law of Attraction which states that our inner conscious and unconscious thoughts dictate our lives, whether we realize it or not.
Oprah Winfrey has brought the vision board concept to the forefront by highlighting author, Rebecca Byrne, and her best-selling book, The Secret. Interested? Download Oprah's free Vision Board application here. To your success!
* Bonus! Open your mind and do something totally unexpected for yourself. It doesn't need to be earthshattering, just make it fun, and smile!
I channeled my " invincible summer" by jazzing up my winter pedi with Chanel's Cruise Collection's Le Vernis Riva, an opalescent robin's egg blue polish, a far cry from my usual (and perhaps boring?) neutral polishes! This shimmery polish reminds me of great times at the beach with family and friends.
