Taylor Swift tribute is one of many free outdoor concerts in downtown Houston this May
The popular outdoor concert series Party on the Plaza returns to downtown Houston this spring, complete with a dance floor and lineup of all-star artists, musicians, and tribute bands.
Beginning May 3, the concerts will be held every Friday evening in May on the Plaza at Avenida Houston. Expect to hear jazz, Latin, pop, and more from 7-9:30 pm, plus a Taylor Swift Eras tour experience and the return of Vanderpump Rules star Tom Sandoval and his band, The Most Extras.
The festive lighting makes for an excellent selfie backdrop, and you can grab snacks and drinks from a variety of restaurants right on the pedestrian plaza.
This year’s Party on the Plaza lineup includes:
- Friday, May 3 — EZ Band: Latin-American friends who decided to reinvent the rules of Hispanic regional music by taking over the hearts and minds of multiple cultures to reunite every sector, one Spanglish song at a time.
- Friday, May 10 — (opener) Teacake Ferguson & Thee Evolution Band: A versatile ensemble led by the compelling vocals of Teacake Ferguson known for crossing multiple genres captivating and immersing audiences with their dynamic sound.
- Friday, May 10 — (main) Tom Sandoval & The Most Extras: This is the latest musical passion project of actor, model, and restauranteur Tom Sandoval. For 11 seasons, Sandoval has starred in the hit Bravo reality series Vanderpump Rules. Sandoval and his ultimate party band play all the hits everyone knows and loves.
- Friday, May 17 — (opener) No Rehearsal Band Tribute to 1975: American pop duo Matt Cobb and David Shorey got their band's name from Matt’s mom when he was in middle school, because she said they never practiced. But they’ve gone on to perform in some of the largest events and venues including the Super Bowl, Toyota Center, and the State Fair of Texas.
- Friday, May 17 — (main) Lover: An Eras Tour Experience: A Taylor Swift tribute band offering music lovers and Swiftie fans an unbelievable Eras Tour experience they’ll never forget.
- Friday, May 24 — (opener) Aaron McCoy Jazz Trio: Energetic, engaging saxophonist who has performed or opened for a number of legendary artists, including The O’Jays, Yolanda Adams, Fantasia, Mary J. Blige, Peabo Bryson, Shirley Caesar, and more.
- Friday, May 24 — (main) Who’s Bad: Thrilling fans for two decades with the ultimate Michael Jackson experience.
