The Astros' dramatic run to a World Series victory almost had dire consequences for Justin Verlander and Kate Upton's wedding plans, the supermodel tells Vogue magazine. Back when the pitcher was still a member of the Detroit Tigers, the couple selected the first weekend in November for their Italian nuptials.
What they couldn't have known then — that Verlander would help lead the Astros to the team's first ever championship — meant that all of their guests arrived while the couple was still in Los Angeles. No wonder they skipped the victory parade!
"We had an event that night and everyone’s texting us, saying your wedding is so pretty. Wish you were here!” Upton told Jimmy Fallon when the couple appeared on The Tonight Show after they returned to the States.
Thankfully, it all worked out, Upton also shared details about why the couple selected the Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco resort as their venue, the pre-wedding "Uplander Olympics" (complete with custom Under Armour jerseys), and the inspiration for her Valentino dress.
