For the dogs
Bachelor star Kalon McMahon auctions off his body & helicopter skills, takes onJustin Bieber
Just days before his Saturday appearance at a charity auction for Houston's Citizens for Animal Protection, Bachelor star Kalon Joseph Reid McMahon has found himself in the doghouse this week . . . literally.
Because there's nothing funnier than a grown-ass man singing Justin Bieber songs in a dog costume, the Bayou City reality star decided to hit up a post-Halloween sale and make a parody of "As Long as You Love Me" for Givebones — the California-based charitable company dedicated to helping dogs in need.
"Thinking we could tap into Ellen DeGeneres' love of both dogs and Justin Bieber, we got this video idea and are hoping to get it to go viral."
"We were trying to figure out ways to promote the organization with the such a small advertising budget," he tells CultureMap from his new home base in Los Angeles. "Thinking we could tap into Ellen DeGeneres' love of both dogs and Justin Bieber, we got this video idea and are hoping to get it to go viral."
To reach out to the Bachelor the crowd, Bachelor Pad 1 champ Natalie Getz volunteered her time to play the female lead opposite McMahon, who spends the entire video singing, dancing and playing fetch as an oversized shelter dog.
Local Bachelor Pad fans will be delighted to know that fellow BP3 contestant Lindzi Cox — with whom McMahon has been maintaining a relatively serious long-distance relationship since the summer — will be joining her beau in Houston this weekend as he offers himself up for charity.
"I've been a supporter of Citizens for Animal Protection since I was 14," McMahons laughs. "I'm offering up a two-person group date package at the live auction. The three of us will take a helicopter ride to the Dos Brisas resort outside of town, where we'll all go horseback riding and have dinner . . .
"Lindzi can back me up in the audience in case no one bids."
