After a month-long search since firing manager Cecil Cooper on September 21, the Astros today named Boston Red Sox bench manager Brad Mills as new team manager. According to the Houston Chronicle, Mills has no major league managerial experience, but helmed minor league teams for 11 years and has spent the last six years as the Red Sox bench coach. Mills receives the job after Astros' first choice Manny Acta turned it down in favor of Cleveland and ahead of former coach Phil Garner and acting manager Dave Clark.
