Willow Smith's struggle to make sure success goes to her hair, not her head
There's no mistaking that Willow Smith is on the fast-track to greatness. Her first single was on 97.9 The Box, she's already inspired a Muppet mash-up and if this jam hits No. 1 this week, she'll be the youngest artist in history to do so.
Willow's spectacularly addictive refrain has a message, too. The 9-year-old Roc Nation signee tells MTV News: "Whip My Hair means don't be afraid to be yourself and don't let anybody tell you that that's wrong. Because the best thing is you." Sing it, sister.
We know assume it's hard to stay grounded with famous parental units and a hit single before you hit double digits, so here are a few tips from us to you on how to keep it fiercely real:
Do NOT, under and circumstances, date John Mayer. He's a cad with a thing for the younger girls, and that's a record you don't want to break.
Resist the pull of your parent's Scientology. Sure, it's big in Hollywood, but if you must convert for success, we recommend Judaism.
Stay away from the Lohan and Cyrus clans. They've got younger do-overs on the lamb, and we recommend steering clear of those birthday parties. And while Jada's cool, we'd ix-nay the momager (eventually).
But we think you're doing just fine on your own — and we'll be whippin' it all weekend.
