Trick or treat
The most popular Halloween candy in U.S. and No. 1 in the Lone Star State
Using 10 years of compiled data, online candy dealer CandyStore.com has ranked the most popular Halloween candy in each state.
In Texas, Starburst replaced Reese's Peanut Butter Cups as the favorite with Texans consuming nearly 2,000,000 pounds of the box-shaped, fruit-flavored taffy candy. Wisconsin and South Dakota share the Lone Star State's sentiments, also favoring Starburst as the best Halloween sweet.
But the overall most popular All Hallows' Eve treat may come as litte surprise: Candy Corn is No. 1 in six states — Alabama, Indiana, Michigan, New Mexico, Rhode Island, and South Carolina —reigning supreme for the second year in a row. It was also tops last year, but shared first place with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, which still won out in four states: Iowa, Kansas, Oregon, and Wyoming.
New Yorkers will want to stock up on the second most popular confectionary, Sour Patch Kids, along with residents of Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nebraska. All prefer the sweet and tangy candy.
