The Houston Symphony has been off on a seven-city United Kingdom tour of The Planets — An HD Odyssey and those of us who couldn't join our merry band across the pond can follow every step of the trip on a spiffy tour blog.
The Symphony site includes interactive maps of the cities, behind-the-scenes photos (it takes a lot to transport hundreds of instruments across the pond), press reviews of the performances and blog entries from performers/writers like double bassist Eric Larson, fourth horn Julie Thayer and assistant conductor Brett Mitchell. So far the group has sampled haggis in Edinburgh, visited the world's best violin craftsmen at Beare's in northwest London and sampled everything edible in England, from dim sum and curry to fish and chips.
It's the first European tour for the Symphony in 10 years. They land back home in Houston Sunday, so catch up on what you missed and follow along the last few days.
