Rappers beat the rap
Does El Paso have it out for musicians? Houston's Paul Wall & Baby Bash joinillustrious lockup list
The El Paso Police Department might just have it out for legendary Texas musicians.
Houston's own Paul Wall and Baby Bash (real names Paul Michael Slayton and Ronald Ray Bryant) were arrested Saturday in Texas' westernmost city on suspicion of marijuana possession. Although the two rappers easily made the $300 bail and were shortly released — jail records say the two were arrested at 1:30 a.m. and released by 1:30 p.m. the following day, having been charged with possessing less than 2 ounces of marijuana — Wall made sure to Tweet out a reminder that he's not the only Texas musician to have suffered under the long arm of El Paso law.
"Fresh out the El Paso County jail wit @BabyBash @BIGGROY in the same tank they held Willie Nelson/Johnny Cash," Wall Tweeted Sunday along with a picture of himself cuffed in the back of a squad car.
Nelson just collaborated with Coldplay over a shared dedication to fair farming practices. Do you smell a Paul Wall/Willie collab over their shared desert lockup?
