Maybe Drayton McLane should consider trading in the Astros for the Pearland Little Leaguers.
The All Stars from Pearland remained undefeated in the Little League World Series with a convincing 14-1 victory over Fairfield, Connecticut Sunday night in Williamsport, Pa. The game was called in the fourth inning due to the "mercy" rule. A game is called if a team is leading by 10 or more runs at the end of the fourth inning.
Leading 1-0 after the first ending on a home run by Beau Orlando, the Pearland sluggers broke open the game in the second inning scoring seven runs. Pearland pitcher Mason Van Noort was credited with the win.
It was the second consecutive victory for Pearland and put the team in the driver's seat in their bracket. The winner of Monday's game between Fairfield and Auburn, Washington will face Pearland on Tuesday. If Pearland wins that game, they will move to Saturday's American final. If they lose, a third game would take place, with the winner advancing.
A sizable contingent of Pearland supporters in plaid cowboy shirts and hats cheered the team on from the stands and were featured prominently during the game, which was televised on ESPN2.
