Pop princess wars: Britney Spears snubs Lady Gaga at Staples Center
Lady Gaga was the star of her own show this week at Los Angeles' Staples Center, but one former pop princess decided to check in — and out — to see what the Monster Ball is all about. It was none other than Britney Spears, who made an appearance at a performance.
Earlier in the evening, Brit had tweeted about seeing the Lady live.
Gaga's number one fan, Perez Hilton, was all over the news like white on rice, tweeting Brit's arrival: "@ladygaga Britney is in the building! #PayingRespect." Considered at first to be a sweet passing of the pop baton onto Gaga, it was soon revealed by Perez that Britney was less than impressed when he tweeted, "@ladygaga Britney left after only a few songs."
Is Britney still bitter about Gaga taking back the rights to "Telephone?" Unfortunately, she missed Gaga's celebration for selling 51 million singles — which entailed burning a piano live onstage. Once Gaga was presented with a plaque, the instrument proceeded to explode as she continued playing.
Or just maybe Brit blew off LG so she could practice her routine for Glee, which apparently is now the venue du jour for faded divas.
