Shaq Attack
No mere Twitter fight: Why does everyone want to punch Jim Rome? (with video)
Look out, Jim Rome! It's a bird! It's a plane!
Oh, wait a second. It's only a fallen star.
National sports talk show host Jim Rome made the everyone's-already-thinking-it observation — that Shaquille O'Neal's career was not as great as it could've been and that Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge made a mistake in signing Shaq.
When Shaq got wind of the commentary, the NBA ogre blew a gasket.
He returned fire with his weapon of choice — his Twitter account.
"Jim Rome, I am happy with my career and the legacy that I have left behind, obviously u r not happy wit yur legacy I 4got u have no legacy," Shaq tweeted in retort.
But Shaq wasn't finished with one I-know-you-are-but-what-am-I quip. In his characteristic braggadocio, the big bully challenged Rome to a boxing match, "live at espn studios, show the world if u can bak up the tuff talk."
And then Shaq bawked at Rome like a chicken, a la Biff Tannen vs. Marty McFly. You keep it classy, Shaq.
Rome, purportedly half the beast's size, does not seem to be fazed. "Tell you what big man," he said on his site. "This is a pretty intriguing proposition."
Shaq may not have lived up to his full potential as a basketball player, but our bets are on Shaq the Super-Sized in this deathmatch.
Do you think Jim Rome will bring Shaq on his ESPN show, to duel or otherwise? Should he? Doesn't he remember Chris ... er, Jim Everett?
