An elephant, not a RINO
Politics may be dirty sexy, but Meghan McCain keeps her image clean
You know it's a slow news week when the release of a book cover — not a book, just the cover — makes the Internet rounds.
That's the case with Meghan McCain's forthcoming tome, Dirty Sexy Politics, hitting stores on August 31. But anyone hoping for a shot worthy of the title is going to be disappointed.
Dressed in a girl-next-door white T-shirt and jeans, McCain perches precariously on an elephant trunk.
Ever so slightly showing her discomfort (which convinces me more than anything the image is not a result of Photoshop), McCain looks cute but frumpier than usual, belying her fun, frisky persona. Shooting from below is never flattering, and the average picture of her in a Google search is just as good, if not better. I even prefer the shot McCain posted on Twitter of her hugging the elephant, Thai.
Of course, there's more to a book cover than looking sexy (especially for a political daughter vilified when she dared post a picture to Twitter that happened to include cleavage). But in the political book cover world, as in so many others, there seems to be a clear divide in style between conservatives and liberals.
By putting her pretty face front and center, McCain fits right in the mold.
