A fascinating HoustonPBS documentary about the Berlin Wall, which premiered Monday night, ended abruptly. But it's not over.
The Wall: A World Divided recounts the history of the wall and the moment that it came tumbling down in 1989, effectively ending the Cold War. The story is told through the eyes of three world leaders: Helmut Kohl, then Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mikhail Gorbachev, then General Secretary of the Soviet Union, and George H.W. Bush, then President of the United States. Their perspectives are framed with personal accounts from Berliners that lived through the city's segregation.
The story ended in a hurry just before the credits ran, leaving viewers hungering for more. But there's good news: A HoustonPBS spokesperson said a second installment is in production and will air in the fall. It will cover German reunification.
The first installment will be repeated Sunday at 4 p.m. on Channel 8.
