Move Over, Mozart
Tweet your way through the Houston Symphony's summer concert series
If you happen to hear, "Shhh. They're tweeting!" tonight, then you must be at the Miller Outdoor Theatre.
How can we be so certain? Because the Houston Symphony's free of charge Symphony Summer Nights concert series kicks off on this very evening. And we also happen to know that where shushing once reigned supreme over the sonata, the sweet sound of tweeting will now fill the air.
Not literally, of course.
Even though we're leaving the real birds in their cages, let's clean the screens on our smartphones, shall we? Because the Symphony's pioneering "Tweetcert" event will be a song for sore eyes - and ears.
For the first time, the audience ensemble will actually be encouraged to watch the Symphony's Twitterfeed during the concert — and keep their phones on. Those who do follow along will, according to the Symphony, receive "an up-to-the-minute extended version of program notes about the music."
What orchestrally-inclined technophile could ask for more?
