No shy choices
After her bedroom moves, Erin Andrews is the overwhelming Dancing with the Starsfavorite
What do you get when you combine an ultra-sympathetic backstory with a unprovoked attack from a TV big mouth and a daring bedroom choice?
The Dancing with the Stars winner. As former Arizona Cardinals coach Denny Green would say, you might as well crown Erin Andrews now.
With the first night of ABC's two-night long DWTS finale (and you thought the final Losttook a long time) done, Andrews has clearly established herself as the new favorite to win the competition. It would have been hard for Nicole Scherzinger or Evan Lysacek to overcome the overwhelming public sentiment that's built up for the ESPN sideline princess after her creepy filming voyeur stalking ordeal, View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck's publicity-seeking charge that Andrews' costumes were too revealing on the reality show and Andrews' own Oprah appearance.
Now that Andrews and her partner (in every sense of the word) Maksim Chmerkovskiy broke out their bedroom dance on ABC ... well, it's as over for everyone not named Erin as the Astros' chances of finishing .500.
In the thousands (and that's only the slightest of exaggerations) of TV and radio interviews that Andrews did in the days before the finals, she promised something that had never been seen before in the freestyle and you can't fault the plan. Andrews and Chmerkovskiy danced on a bed, flipping and spinning all around it and probably causing Haselbeck to swallow a plumb wherever she was watching (and you know Hasselbeck was watching).
So much for the safe choice.
The viewing public wanted a reason to vote for Andrews as the winner — and she and Maks complied with the professional dancer even providing the quip of the series. "It wasn't the bed we rehearsed on," Chmerkovskiy shot back when judge Carrie Ann Inaba mentioned a stumble on one of the bed tosses.
Andrews only beamed. It feels good when you know you're going to win.
Technically, Andrews is tied for the lead with Scherzinger, but all ties go to sentimental favorites. It's reality TV. And for at least this week, it's Erin Andrews' world.
