Consider that a divorce: The shock of Arnold Schwarzenegger & Maria Shriverterminating their marriage

The Schwarzeneggers were one of the best known new-era political families with ahistory of entertainment.
Arnold and Maria, an unlikely couple from the start, are splitsville.
In 1986, no one believed one of the most unlikely unions of politics and entertainment could go the distance. Twenty five years later, we're all in a state of shock that it didn't.
Surprise doesn't begin to describe the recently announced separation of actor-turned-governator-turned-actor-again Arnold Schwarzenegger and his Kennedy-blooded bride Maria Shriver.
A power couple du jour, we'd gotten used to beefy Arnold in stately blue clutching perfectly tressed, strong-willed Maria around the waist, toothily grinning about this initiative or that bestseller over the years.
We feel completely blindsided that the biggest success story in mysterious matrimonial history is now bowing out of such an epic marriage.
But apparently, this is news to everyone but Arnold and Maria.
It was rumored that Shriver moved out of the Schwarzenegger chalet a few months ago. Word is that Maria was "miserable," and Arnold's ego was getting to be too much to handle. Which begs the question, "What else did you think you were getting by marrying Conan the Barbarian?" But we suppose that's all water under the bridge now.
When Shriver consulted the end-all, be-all Internet oracle YouTube about "life transitions" — sans wedding ring — the writing was on the wall. Arnold's instability, craziness, and womanizing ensured that Maria wouldn't be back.
