Oscar winner's band teams with Linkin Park for big summer rock concert
Jared Leto just won an Oscar for his stunning portrayal of a transgender woman with HIV in Dallas Buyers Club, but his real passion is music. So his Texas fans are sure to be excited at Tuesday's announcement that his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, will team with rock bands Linkin Park and AFI for one of the summer's most anticipated concerts.
"The Carnivores Tour," which kicks off Aug. 8 in West Palm Beach, will stop at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands on Sept. 5 and the Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas on Sept. 6.
During a live multi-media press conference in Los Angeles, Linkin Park co-lead singer Mike Shinoda explained the unusual name of the tour. "Carnivores is a metaphor that is meant to convey an appetite for something visceral and substantive, and I feel that’s exactly the hunger this tour will feed," he said.
"We are so excited to join our friends on this epic journey. It's going to be the adventure of a lifetime," Leto said.
Dallas Buyers Club was Leto's first movie in six years as he has concentrated on his music and touring with his band.
Tickets go on sale Friday, March 7, at livenation.com and the bands' websites. Members of Linkin Park and Thirty Seconds to Mars fan clubs can take part in exclusive sales today at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Central Standard Time respectively.
