Roger Ebert's new Twitter voice gives thumbs down to Palin, Mayer & Teabaggers
Roger Ebert is back in a big way, and we like it.
With appearances in Esquire and a sit-down on Oprah's famous couch yesterday, he's making headlines after applying his critical eye to the realms of politics and popular culture, recently taking to Twitter to bash Sarah Palin, the Tea Party Movement, and supreme d-bag John Mayer.
We don't know if it's his age — we've all had an awkward meal with grandparents who don't hold back — or his way of making up for the loss of his voice, but the iconic film critic has been letting fly.
A battle with thyroid cancer took Ebert's jaw and his ability to speak normally, but the frequent Tweeter refuses to be silenced. He's been engaging conservative bloggers with his nickname for Tea Party members, the "Teabaggers", and his general disdain for Sarah Palin and her total dependence on teleprompters (and hand notes).
Our favorite zing?
Ebert's response to John Mayer's controversial Playboy interview, in which the crooner ran the gamut from ex-girlfriend-overshare to calling his penis "a white supremacist." As the Internet buzzed with backlash, Ebert (whose wife is black, and who took Oprah on a few dates back in the day) simply tweeted: "To John Mayer regarding black women: What's not to like?"
Pwned.
