We Say Sandy!
Meet your next Oscars host: Sandra Bullock would erase Hathaway-Franco dud
It's been established that Anne Hathaway and James Franco were not the Oscars' greatest hosts. (Personally, I much preferred Hathaway's occasionally endearing awkwardness to Franco's too-cool-for-school, maybe-stoned indifference.)
But toward the end of the ceremony, when Sandra Bullock took the stage a year after accepting Best Actress for her role in The Blindside, all while concealing a secret baby and a crumbling marriage in 2010, I got an idea: Sandy should host the Oscars!
It's been four years since a woman (Ellen DeGeneres) hosted solo, and Bullock's comedic timing, down-to-earth demeanor and gentle teasing seem perfect the role. She's no Ricky Gervais, to be sure, but she can give a good ribbing and she's got the likability — especially now, after handling a rough, public year with great poise — to carry the show.
