The Academy Awards are finally here, but you still have time to vote for Best Picture and enter the first CultureMap Pick the Oscar Winners contest. Here's how it works:
Click here to go to CultureMap's Facebook page and pick the winner in the Best Picture category, which is open for voting through the start of tonight's telecast of the 84th Annual Academy Awards. Everyone who picks the winner in this category will be entered in a drawing, where the randomly selected Grand Prize champ will receive a year-long pass to Sundance Cinemas, along with 10 runners-up, who will each receive a pass to a movie at the cinema complex at Bayou Place in downtown Houston.
The Artist is the odds-on favorite in this category, but with nine nominees, there are a plenty of movies for you to select as an upset pick.
Possible candidates for an underdog win: The Help, which won the Screen Actors Guild Best Ensemble award, Hugo, which received the most nominations (11) of any movie this year, The Descendants, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and War Horse.
