The "Hedgehog" returns
A mega porn star crosses over for a Houston director
Noted screen actor Ronald Jeremy Hyatt — known for his work in feature productions like Ronin and The Boondock Saints — made a special trip to north Houston's Moffett Productions this week to shoot scenes for a new film by local auteur Chuck Norfolk.
With a B.A. in theater and a master's in special education, Hyatt was torn between his work as a teacher and his dreams as an actor. In the late 1970s, he decided to take the leap of a lifetime, abandoning his stable teaching position in New York City for the struggles of a Hollywood actor.
"The story is about a crazy hillbilly family . . . who has their trailer possessed by a demon,” said director Chuck Norfolk.
Know lovingly as "Ron" to his adoring fans, Hyatt launched his prolific career during the mid-1980s with movies such as Sex Fifth Avenue, Girls of the Third Reich, Terms of Endowment, and Return to Sex Fifth Avenue. Three decades later, he can claim more than 2,000 film credits to his name.
Wait a second . . . more than 2,000 films? Oh, thaaaat Ron Jeremy — the porn star with the mustache.
Guess that explains rather thin plot line of his upcoming horror-comedy project with Houston filmmaker Chuck Norfolk entitled The Haunted Trailer.
"The story is about a crazy hillbilly family . . . who has their trailer possessed by a demon,” Norfolk, who also wrote the script, told Fox 26.
The movie follows brothers Elvis and Aaron who join their "Momma," sister Prissy, and TV evangelist Reverend Wiggems to exorcise an ancient creature set free to fulfill the 2012 Mayan apocalyptic prophecy.
Jeremy plays the Mayan demon in the film, one of more than 200 non-pornographic productions in which he has starred.
The Haunted Trailer will open late this year, just in time for the holidays.
