Ice storm forces Willie Nelson off the road; Ladysmith Black Mambazo willperform
Apparently the hard freeze that has turned Houston into a large icebox was too dangerous to get Willie Nelson on the road (again) for his concert tonight at the Verizon Wireless Theater. The Red-Headed Stranger just lives down the highway making it easy to reschedule.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo, however, came to Houston all the way from South Africa to play Jones Hall tonight. There is no way the Grammy award-winning world music chorale were going to let a little ice derail them.
Nelson's concert has been postponed until April 28 at the Verizon Wireless Theater. Those holding tickets for tonight's show should hold onto them. They will be honored at the rescheduled date.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the half-century old harmony group that rose to fame in America in the mid-80's after backing Paul Simon on his landmark Graceland album, will still perform at 8 p.m. tonight at Jones Hall. For ticket information, call the box office at 713-227-4772.
