Don't Cry for Me Argentina
The headliners for a new, greener iFest are . . .
Houston International Festival celebrates its 42nd anniversary in April with a journey to Argentina, featuring interactive exhibits, artisan performances, food and dance.
And, of course, there will be live music.
A musical mix of reggae, jazz, blues and Americana will complement the sounds of Argentina. Headlining the 2012 festival are: Los Lonely Boys, War (you know the one) and reggae group Steel Pulse, along with Galactic, JJ Grey and MOFRO, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Los Amigos Invisibles, Chico Trujillo, SOJA, Hector Del Curto & Eternal Tango and more.
In addition to the international markets and booths of ethnic cuisine, iFest will introduce Village Green, a space where vendors will sell recycled and locally-produced goods. On April 21, organizers will host an inaugural concert and tango performance at the Hobby Center, featuring Argentinean performer Hector Del Curto & Eternal Tango.
iFest will take place on April 21-22 and 28-29. Tickets go on sale on the festival website Jan. 31.
