Lyle Lovett is the latest celeb to join myHouston campaign
- Lyle Lovett is the latest Houston-area celebrity to take part in the myHoustoncampaign
- MyHouston's new poster includes hot spots favored by such Houston-raised celebsas Chandra Wilson, Beyonce Knowles, ZZ Top and the Osteens.
The Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau has added Houston songster Lyle Lovett to its line-up of local celebs touting the city's appeal.
Lovett says Houston's arts scene is what he loves most, especially the music, citing Archie Bell and the Drells, Beyoncé Knowles and "that little band" ZZ Top. He recommends his old and sometimes-current stomping ground, Anderson Fair, as a choice musical venue.
The myHouston campaign takes Houston-raised celebrities like ZZ Top, Grey's Anatomy's Chandra Wilson, Beyoncé, Chloe Dao, Yao Ming and others and asks them what they love about Houston. The latest result is a video compilation of their responses and a map of their favorite spots around town.
Some picks are to be expected, while others are a bit surprising.
Victoria and Joel Osteen are fans of upscale eateries Vic & Anthony's and Tony's while Hilary Duff, whose weight is often a subject of tabloid gossip, is quick to throw her support behind Shipley's and James Coney Island.
Chloe Dao and Paul Wall count Rice Village among their favorite places in town. Dao I can understand, as her boutique Lot 8 is located in the Village, but I'm not sure how I'd react if I ran into the Swisha House wordsmith at Baker Street.
