If you've got a kid (or several) who's in third to eighth grade and would love to attend the Houston SPCA's Critter Camp this summer, registration is now open for the Mary S. Montague Scholarship program.

Critter Camp is the nonprofit's popular summer day camp.
These need-based scholarships are first-come, first-served, and cover all fees and supplies for the week-long summer day camps, where children get to learn about animal care and career paths with animals, like veterinary medicine and within animal welfare like Animal Cruelty Investigations.
"The need-based scholarship program is one of several initiatives the Houston SPCA is embarking on as we work to grow our Community Impact program," says Jamie Spiva, interim chief development officer. "This experience should be available no matter a family’s economic challenges."
To apply, email the application (found here) along with a copy of the family’s most recent income statement or proof of public assistance to education@houstonspca.org.
Documents accepted include Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC); Supplemental Security Income (SSI); Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); or documentation of Department of Veteran’s Affairs benefits (except pension).
Families with a combined income of less than $37,500 may also apply.
