Houston shines among the nation's best cities for Christmas
Adding to the festive nature of the holiday season, WalletHub has released its list of the best places for Christmas, putting three Texas cities in the top 25 — including Houston.
The financial website ranked the 100 biggest cities in the U.S. in five broad categories, considering everything from affordability to Christmas-friendliness. Houston is No. 18 overall.
What makes H-Town a great place to celebrate Christmas? Says WalletHub, "Typical Christmas activities include shopping, dining out, and attending holiday events," and Houston has no shortage — just look at our guides to downtown holiday happenings and spectacular holiday shows.
Houston ranks 19th for traditions and fun (which includes Christmas events per capita), ninth for observance (churches per capita and share of Christian population), and 21st for shopping.
The city does, however, have some room for improvement in the costs category, for which it ranks No. 50, and there's a long way to go with generosity — Houston is all the way down at No. 87.
The other top Texas cities for Christmas are Dallas (No. 12) and Austin (No. 22). And the very best places to spend the holiday, according to the report, are Chicago, San Francisco, and Pittsburgh.
