Clever dog dodges certain death by hiding in a cabinet during massive house fire
A devastating house fire in Montgomery County Thursday night saw firefighters pull a crafty small dog from the wreckage of the fast-moving blaze.
The New Caney Fire Department arrived at the scene around 8:30 p.m. to find a one-story wood home already completely engulfed in flames.
Firefighters quickly went to work, but determined the small house to be a total loss, likely destroyed with the help of two unwatched space heaters. No residents were present during the incident, and the Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office has opened an investigation.
Firefighters quickly went to work, but determined the small house to be a total loss.
While no injuries were reported, the bodies of three dogs were discovered among the damage.
But a little holiday magic must have been at work the evening when officials found the fourth dog who survived the blaze by hiding inside a cabinet.
Before the clever canine was taken to an area veterinary clinic, firefighters snapped this memorable pic.
