Opt for Optimism
Frost Bank bestows optimism and swag at uplifting new EaDo mural
Soon after a new mural by self-taught urban artist Anat Ronen went up at 2011 Leeland St., Frost Bank and CultureMap popped by to celebrate it.
And, of course, we brought goodies. As onlookers posed for pics, CultureMap handed out Alamo Drafthouse tickets, High Brew coffee, and Frost swag to the 50 or so people who gathered.
"Optimism means always having the right attitude about the outcome of a situation," observed one visitor.
"Finding the good in everything," agreed another. "Even the bad scenarios have good stuff to take away from them."
One way that Frost Bank gave back during the event was rewarding one visitor with a major gift. Maria Camila Suarez paused to pose for a pic in front of the mural and used the hashtags #optforoptimism and #sweepstakes, and in turn she won $500 for herself and $500 for a nonprofit of her choice. Inspired by the mural's message, Suarez donated the cash to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which advance cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.
For the next six months, you can visit the mural and get your own dose of optimism. Be sure to tag it with #optforoptimism on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter — you never know what good might come from it.
