Mayor Annise Parker shares her forbidden love story: Girlfriend's mother couldnot deal
Nov 11, 2011 | 3:28 pm
As mayor, Annise Parker has tried to make her status as the first openly gay mayor in a major American city secondary to her day-to-day work running the city.
But when Nathan Manske, founder and executive director of I'm from Driftwood, asked Parker to share a story about her life, she picked a more personal subject: Her first love, and some of the challenges of being gay when she was enrolled at Rice University.
I'm From Driftwood has been compiling LGBT stories from individuals in all 50 states, and The Huffington Post is sharing some of the most interesting and touching, including Parker's.
Are you touched by Parker's story? Who else would you like to hear from in Houston?
