Where in Houston is the Chevy Sonic?
The search is on during the Chevy Sonic Adventure at Jones Plaza
There’s a 2012 Chevy Sonic hidden somewhere in Houston, and it’s up to adventure-seekers to find it. The wildly popular Chevy Sonic Adventure scavenger hunt, hosted by the Houston Area Chevy Dealers, returns to Jones Plaza Sunday — and all you need to play is a cell phone and powers of deduction.
The free event starts at 11 a.m. and players can participate on iPhones, Android phones and other mobile phones. Players receive locations through their phones, head to the assigned destinations and complete fun, fast challenges to earn points. The team with the most points wins the Chevy Sonic.
As with all games, there are a few rules to follow. No bikes are allowed, so all players must participate by foot (or by wheelchair if medically-necessary.) Smartphones offer a slight advantage because of the digital maps, but all questions are answered based on location.
If you have an iPhone and Android device, download the SCVNGR app ahead of time. Those who have other phones should text 'TEST" to 728-647 to receive a confirmation message that says, “Great news!" Didn't receive this? Check your spelling, the number and delete all signatures. Still nothing? Call your carrier's Customer Care and ask to enable third-party text messages.
The 2012 Chevy Sonic is small in size, but big on features, such as the power-dense four-cylinder engines — including an Ecotec 1.4L turbo, class-leading rear-seat roominess, four-door sedan and five-door options, 10 standard air bags and sleek interior stylings.
All Sonics are equipped with OnStar, which uses GPS and cellular phone technology to automatically call for help in the event of crash. OnStar subscribers also can use the service to be Good Samaritans by sending help to other motorists, and to call for help in other non-crash emergencies.
The Chevy Sonic Adventure awards ceremony is at Jones Plaza at 2 p.m. Get going!
