Halloween 2012 is just about in the record books. But we couldn't let it pass without saluting the 8,500 dog lovers who gathered in Bridgeland, a master planned community in Cypress, last weekend for the fourth annual Howl-O-Ween Fest to cheer costumed canines, pets searching for lost treasure and one doggone good pumpkin carver.
While it's a free event, the Howl-O-Ween Fest raised more than $2,000 for local pet rescue groups in such activities as a canine costume contest hosted by Channel 39's Maggie Flecknoe.
Besides canines in spooktacular attire, the event featured California sculptor Alfred Paredes, who completed several pumpkins with intricately carved faces and then worked on dog-inspired pumpkins. It was Paredes' first visit to Texas.
