Rivalry Renewed
Playboy loves the University of Texas party school ways, but Texas A&M rankedNo. 1 for sporting life
If anyone doubted a Lone Star coed's commitment to a good time, check Playboy Magazine's prestigious annual list of the Top 10 Party Schools — where four Texas universities receive mention.
For the ranking, Playboy "crunched" numbers and "tallied" drinking stories, ranking America's top 100 colleges on sex, sports and nightlife.
"At SMU, Dallas is your never-ending house party. The number of bars within Dallas County: Around 2,000."
The University of Texas ranked No. 4 among party schools, thanks, we assume, to the student body's healthy appetite for lovemaking, the Longhorns' huge football program and the city's ample options for drinking and dancing. (UT stood at a paltry No. 17 in a party school ranking published by The Daily Beast in August, so this in some ways a return to honor.)
University of Virginia took No. 1 on the party school list, followed by the University of Southern California and the University of Florida. Texas Christian University in Fort Worth squeezed in at No. 9 in the rankings.
Texas A&M University received mention as a top school for Sporting Life and Southern Methodist University ranked No. 1 in the nightlife category.
"At SMU, Dallas is your never-ending house party," the article reads. "The number of bars within Dallas County: Around 2,000, including Idle Rich Pub, the campus hot spot that best describes the student body."
