There's always something fun going on at Discovery Green, making it the ideal backdrop for a surprise visit from Frost Bankand CultureMap.
In front of Margo Sawyer's Synchronicity of Color, CultureMap popped up to surprise art-lovers there to celebrate the opening of the new Gonzo exhibit.
The Texas Optimism Project and Houston artist GONZO247 are launching a series of pop-up Optimism Lounges across downtown Houston. From August through October, colorful Optimism Lounges were installed at Jones Plaza, Discovery Green, and Market Square. Each lounge contains unique messages of optimism and encourages Houstonians to explore downtown and take breaks for a more optimistic view on life. The Texas Optimism Project is a sponsored partnership between Texas Monthly and Frost Bank's Opt for Optimism initiative.
Several families were out enjoying the green space, and they were happy to pause and reflect at the Call Me Optimistic chalkboards on what makes them happy.
A family of six came by, and while the kiddos were drawing and enjoying samples from JuiceLand, the parents shared how they had struggled with infertility and a miscarriage before being blessed with their four beautiful children.
That Poet Guy was onsite creating personalized poems, and his uplifting words rang especially true for one woman who did not initially identify as an optimistic person but who vowed to try and see the glass half full from now on.
In addition to pins proclaiming positive messages, there were also postcards that attendees could mail to brighten someone's day.
CultureMap and Frost Bank will be hosting more of these pop-up events throughout the year, surprising and delighting folks all over Texas.
