Wild Alaska
Just how aggressive was Sarah Palin with Glen Rice? And cocaine snowmobiling?Book brings questions
Remember that journalist-turned-next-door-neighbor of the Palin's? The respected biographer who Sarah Palin tried to claim was stalking her?
Well, Joe McGinniss' soon-to-be-released tell-all, called The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin, has leaked, and there are some bombs. The highlights include:
- Palin slept with basketball star Glen Rice (a one-time Houston Rocket) back in 1987, when he was a University of Michigan player in town for the Great Alaska Shootout and she was a less-than-mediocre sports reporter. The two reportedly had a one-night stand, with Palin as the aggressor.
- Palin enjoyed fresh powder. An anecdote in the book has Palin and now-husband Todd snorting cocaine off an overturned oil drum while out snowmobiling — an image that's suddenly on par with her shooting wolves out of a helicopter in shaping our stereotypes of Alaska.
- Palin looked worse in the '80s than most people in the '80s: Exhibit A.
Of his fairly obvious opinion on the former vice presidential candidate, McGinniss writes at the onset of his final chapter:
"No matter how much my book sales might benefit from a Palin presidential campaign in 2012, I sincerely hope that the whole extravaganza, which has been unblushingly underwritten by a mainstream media willing to gamble the nation's future in exchange for the cheap thrill of watching a clown in high heels on a flying trapeze, is nearing the end of its run."
