Police comeuppance: Local pays traffic ticket with origami pig $1 bills stuffedin donut boxes
The municipal court in Jersey Village accepts cash, money order, cashiers check and credit card for ticket payments. This week was likely the first time they've had a fine paid in origami pigs.
A driver hand-delivered the penalty in two Dunkin' Donuts boxes, recording the exchange on camera and posting it on YouTube (KHOU first reported on the video).
The man explained, "I got this ticket in a town where the cops (and absurd redlight[sic] cameras) are pretty much a money trap and that's it. I decided to pay in an appropriate manner."
Though the clerk seems annoyed (he requested that the man unfold each pig before handing over the bills), a police officer brought in to diffuse the situation laughed at the joke.
"That's pretty cool . . . That took a lot of time," the officer says.
The man spent more than four delirium-inducing hours folding the bills into paper piggies. It took him about three minutes to unfold.
