Harris County Sheriff's Office building evacuated after suspicious package discovered
UPDATE 2:08 p.m.— Employees have returned to the Harris County Sheriff's Office building that was evacated after the Bomb Unit discovered that the suspicious package was a harmless radio.

A Harris County Sheriff's Office building in downtown Houston was evacuated around 1 p.m. Friday after a suspicious package was discovered.
Authorities closed off the streets near the building at 49 San Jacinto with yellow tape and diverted traffic for several blocks. The building handles the bond process and also houses records, internal affairs and IT functions.
A sheriff's representative says the building was evacuated as a precaution as officials comb the area and inspect the package. The HCSO’s Bomb Unit has been called to the scene. Bomb-sniffing dogs were observed on the streets near the building.
