Brazen Home Invasion
A home invasion in Montrose just after midnight on Monday remains a nightmare for three residents who were terrorized and robbed and has neighbors on edge in this normally placid enclave.
Three brazen men with bandanas covering their face, and each with a gun, apparently pried open a locked door on the first floor of a brick fourplex in the 1600 block of Hawthorne street near Dunlavy and Westheimer and entered the bedroom of a female resident just as she was falling asleep.
“I was terrified. I was absolutely mortified. It’s one of the worst nightmares, fears of being a woman,” she told KHOU Channel 11 News.
They forced her down the hall to her roommates’ bedroom, where they pistol whipped one resident and tied the victims with computer wires. After taunting them, the thieves took off in one resident's white Chevy Silverado. They also took a purse, musical equipment, two laptops and all three of the victims’ cell phones.
As soon as the thieves left, one victim jumped onto a computer that had not been stolen and wrote on Facebook, “I’ve been robbed. They stole our cell phones. Please call 911." The post listed the address. “I realize once I posted it on Facebook that any response was going to go right to my phone which they had stolen,” he said.
The trio then rushed to a nearby bar and called police.
HPD is continue to search for leads in the case. If you have any information call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
