Going, going, gone: Almost 30 classic John O'Quinn cars sold at auction

It wasn't the first auction of classic cars from late lawyer John O'Quinn's estate — over 300 of the original 800 have already been sold — but it was the most contentious.
With a Harris County judge ruling last week against O'Quinn companion Darla Lexington's claim to five cars in the collection — three vintage Corvettes, a rare 1936 Mercedes Benz and a 1938 Talbot Lago — the path was cleared to put them on the block and they were auctioned off by RM Auctions of Monterey, Calif.
The five disputed cars sold for a collective $5.5 million, part of the 29 that were sold this weekend to recoup the estate's debts, reported to be upwards of $90 million.
