Snows cones & a moonwalk too
How to make sure your kids enjoy White Linen Night in the Heights
Your kids don't want to shop endlessly? You don't want to invest in jazzy white linen pantsuits in toddler sizes?
Fear not — Fixers Automotive on the corner of Harvard and 11th Streets is having an open house Saturday for White Linen Night in the Heights with snow cones and a moonwalk to distract your spawn while you vie for gift certificates. (They never expire!)
The owners, Tarfin and Crina Micu, who are both naturalized U.S. citizens from Romania, have operated Fixers since 1993. They have a daughter, Bryanna, who is almost 3, and will likely be trying to man the snow cone machine.
Crina Micu, who met her husband in Romania 15 years after he had fled the communist regime and settled in the United States, says her daughter can't wait.
"She's like inviting everybody. She already knows about parties; that's all she wants to do Saturday."
The tight trio work the shop from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day, and have made the place something of a Heights landmark. Saturday, the business will be filled with the sound of traditional music boxes, a 16-foot moonwalk, balloon animals, frozen lemonade and hot dogs smoked by the Heights Chiropractic Center, just across the street.
Stop in to introduce yourself, cool off and talk shop, not shopping.
