New study reveals dangerous levels of cancer-causing compound on cash registerreceipts
Personally, I'm thrilled.
Never one to get too rattled by these kinds of reports (my view on health is that if Keith Richards is still alive, it's all dumb luck anyway) I'm ecstatic that I now have a legitimate excuse for never keeping my receipts.
A new study by the Environmental Working Group, a non-profit investigative organization based in Washington, D.C., reveals that common cash register receipts — from ATMS, grocery stores, gas stations and the like — often contain dangerously high levels of Bisphenol A (BPA), which has been linked to cancer, diabetes, obesity, early puberty and other health problems.
I hope my boyfriend, parents and accountant are listening. Now if only they'd find some life-threatening toxin in cookware, cleaning supplies and maybe even hand weights. Fingers crossed!
