Happy hour crowd parties at The Grove's sundown fete with cheap cocktails andcity skyline views
The after-work crowd turned out in force Wednesday for the third in a continuing series of "Sundown at The Grove" gatherings taking place on the air-conditioned rooftop deck and the tented open deck at the eatery overlooking Discovery Green.
Each Wednesday night from 6 to 8, the partying throng pours in for complimentary light bites, cool jazz tunes by Dharma, cut-rate cocktails and plenty of professional schmoozing.
At the most recent party pow wow, Ardwyn Walker, Catherine Leak and Melissa Mims popped over from their offices at Hess while Sara Bosco and Amber Glowski drove in from the northwest side of town to make a night of it amid the skyscrapers.
Some hang out in the air-conditioned space while others found their perches on the open-air deck where the city skyline is always a winning view.
Making sure that things flowed smoothly were Discovery Green's Susanne Theis, Schiller-Del Grande's Lonnie Schiller and CultureMap investor Tod Eason. Discovery Green, CultureMap, The Grove, Range Rover and Mix 96.5 are sponsors of the weekly happy hour party.
Theis says the sundown events have helped the city's drought situation. "It's rained every Wednesday," she quipped.
