Tensions between the pilots of United and Continental airlines and their new management seem to have relaxed.
The pilots broke off negotiations with the new combined management of the soon-to-be-merged airlines late last month, early in the integration process. The pilots accused the management of "inflexibility" in the early breakdown, which occurred before money was reportedly even discussed.
But the merger, which will move the headquarters of the new company to Chicago, now seems back on track. Today the airlines announced they'd reached "an agreement in principle" on a transition plan with the pilots, a significant step on the way to a full-blown merger, which is expected to be finalized later this year.
