Opt for Optimism
Houston film fans enjoy optimism and al fresco summer nights
Who needs a drive-in when you've got a beautiful rooftop?
CultureMap and Frost Bank recently hand-jived their way into the Rooftop Cinema Club's sold-out showing of Grease atop BLVD Place, bringing with them fun swag and plenty of opportunities to reflect on what makes them optimistic (besides Sandy and Danny's romance).
In between handing out "Pink Lady" blooms, wildflower seed bombs, and T-shirts emblazoned with "Do Good," we asked moviegoers what's behind their smiles right now.
Answers ranged from "when I help people" to "when I'm listening to my favorite music," with one attendee musing that "everyone should be optimistic all the time — whatever happened yesterday does not define today."
Many of the guests hadn't known about the hidden gem that is Rooftop Cinema Club until seeing the CultureMap posts hyping up the event, and the popular gathering drew many from the neighborhood.
CultureMap and Frost Bank will be hosting more of these pop-up events throughout the year, surprising and delighting folks all over Texas. Want to know where we might show up next? Sign up for our emails and follow along on Facebook and Instagram for hints about our next stop.
