Soulful anger: Patti LaBelle claims the West Point cadet made racially &sexually offensive remarks
Remember when Patti LaBelle's bodyguards beat the poop out of that 23-year-old West Point cadet?
If not — here's the story. A young man at Bush Intercontinental Airport was heading home for spring break on March 11 when he wandered near-ish LaBelle's limousine and baggage. LaBelle's three bodyguards ended up hitting the young man in the head until he incurred injuries that required staples in his skull.
Although the police report and the cadet — Houstonian Richard King — initially told two different stories, the video of the incident seemed to clear up any confusion as to who provoked whom.
Not so fast, a new lawsuit from LaBelle claims. KTRK Ch. 13 was first to report that LaBelle has herself filed a counterclaim to the cadet's suit that was filed earlier this month against LaBelle, her bodyguards and IAH.
The countersuit more closely resembles the original police report, and contends that King attacked LaBelle and two of her guards (something that doesn't come across in the video) as well as addressed the singer in a racially and sexually offensive manner. The infamous surveillance video contains no audio.
