A little piece of Great Wolf Lodge water fun in Houston: The Zoo embraces thesplash
The Houston Zoo’s new water park brings the splash while being environmentally and kid friendly. With 37 different water play features, the McGovern Water Play Park is a great way to cool down while trying to enjoy the zoo in Houston's often crippling summer heat.
From misters to weavers to jets there are plenty of different features to keep visitors entertained. When someone steps on either of the two touch sensors around the play area, the water features are activated. Otherwise they are put on "sleep" mode to conserve water, hence the "green" design.
This state of the art water system is the same type that is used at the kid-paradise Great Wolf Lodge resorts.
The water features come with regular zoo admission and are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Zoo has been cautious to make sure that the water is up to all regulated standards and it contains the same amount of chlorine as any public pool. Kids can enjoy the many water features while parents can take a break in the shade on a "seating wall." The park is not too big which is perfect for younger children.
There is even a lifeguard on duty at all times. Who knew you could splash into some fun at the zoo?
